What it's likely to be
Lower-grade panel fitted
Most likelyGreyer blacks, a thicker border, lower brightness and missing True Tone are typical of cheaper panels. Not a fault, but you should have been told.
Parts not transferred carefully
PossibleSensors and small brackets move from the old screen to the new one. Missed or damaged parts cause call, brightness or Face ID problems.
Poor seal or adhesive
PossibleAn edge that lifts, dust under the glass or creaking when pressed.
Faulty replacement panel
PossibleGhost touch, flicker or lines on a brand-new screen are defects.
Try this first
- Check Settings › General › About › Parts and Service History so you know what was fitted.
- Write down exactly what's wrong and when it happens. It makes the check much faster.
- Contact the first shop if you're still within their warranty.
Bring it in if
- The first shop can't help or has closed.
- Touch, calls or Face ID don't work properly.
- The edge is lifting — the battery might be swelling.
