iPhone screen problems: your questions
The things people ask us most when their screen starts acting strange.
How do I know if it's the screen or something inside the phone?
Take a screenshot. If the fault (a line, a patch) shows in the screenshot, it's software. If the screenshot is clean, it's hardware. For black, white or flickering screens, we connect a known-good test screen — if the problem follows the phone, the screen isn't the cause.
Can you check my screen before I decide?
Yes. Walk in and the technician will check it with you at the counter before any work starts. You can also send a photo or a short video on WhatsApp first.
Is a green line on an iPhone screen fixable?
Usually by replacing the screen. Now and then the fault is in the connection, and the line can be repaired with the screen kept — we only know after testing.
Can a black spot on my iPhone screen be repaired?
No. A spreading black spot means the OLED panel is damaged. Only a new screen removes it. Back up soon, because these often grow until the whole screen is black.
My screen is black but I can hear notifications. Is my data safe?
The phone is still running, so your data is normally fine. A screen replacement doesn't erase anything. If you need data off it urgently, tell us when you come in.
Why does my iPhone tap things by itself?
Ghost touch. Try it unplugged from the charger and without a screen protector first. If it still happens, the touch layer — which is part of the screen — is usually damaged.
Will replacing only the glass fix touch problems?
No. Front-glass-only work keeps your existing display and touch layer. It's only for phones where the picture and touch are perfect and just the glass is cracked.
My screen is lifting at the edge. Is it safe to keep using?
Stop charging it and bring it in soon. A lifting screen is most often caused by a swollen battery pushing from inside, which shouldn't be squeezed or left charging.
Why does my iPhone say Unknown Part after a repair?
From iPhone 11 onwards, iOS lists any screen it can't verify as a genuine Apple part. The screen works normally. Only our Genuine option shows as genuine.
Will I lose True Tone if my screen is replaced?
It depends on the model and the screen option. If True Tone matters to you, tell the technician before choosing, and they'll say which option keeps it.
Is a screen problem after water damage just the screen?
Often not. Water that reaches the display connector or board causes screen symptoms too. Switch it off, don't charge it, skip the rice and bring it in soon.
How long is the warranty?
New screens: 90 days for Genuine, Original Grade and Premium OLED; 30 days for Standard OLED and Premium TFT, covering touch function defects. Front glass only: 30 days. Line or white/green screen repairs with the screen kept: 30 days for the same fault.
Do I need to book?
No. Walk into any of the 16 outlets. A WhatsApp message first lets the outlet confirm the part for your model is ready.
How much will it cost?
It depends on your model, what the fault turns out to be, and the option you choose. WhatsApp us your model and a photo for a free quote.
